Wayne proudly served the United States Air Force for twenty-four years. Retiring as a Master Sergeant, he served in the Gulf War and bases throughout the United States and Korea. His service was not just a job, he was well respected among his peers and was honored with many commendations for his service.
Though Wayne never had any children of his own, he loved his nieces and nephews as if they were his own children. He showered them all with love and spoiled them in only the way an Uncle can. From the newest best stereo in the 80s, to the first gaming systems and ten speed bicycles, if it was new and out of reach for mom and dad, Uncle Wayne delivered.
Wayne was a fighter. A quiet man with a strong spirit, he fought a rare cancer that usually offers no more than six months of life for nearly four years. He did so with courage and optimism that each of us should be so blessed with in the face of such tremendous adversity.
Wayne loved and he loved big. Ask any of his friends and they will tell you that Wayne was the kind of man who would offer you the very last of what he had if you were a friend in need. He loved spending time with many of these friends shooting pool in a competitive league. Those friends were family too.
That's just the man he was. If you were friends with Wayne, you were family.
We would be remiss if we did not say that Wayne was particular. He was particular about a lot things, but he most liked to be particular about his DVDs. With a tremendous collection of DVDs numbering in the thousands, he could tell you exactly what he did and didn't have, but in keeping with Wayne's love for family and friends, he never even watched many of them. They were a collection for friends and family. He enjoyed seeing happiness in others.
