Hazel Chambers DuBose, 97, of Blakely, GA, passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at Wellstar General Hospital in Griffin, GA. She had been living in an assisted living facility in Griffin for several years. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at 2 PM in the Chapel of Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home with Rev. Tucker Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in the Blakely Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kevin and Josh DuBose, Flint Withers, Jason Fletcher, Ronnie Willis and Danny McGriff. The family will receive friends for visitation starting at 12 noon until the funeral time at 2 PM.

Mrs. DuBose was born on November 7, 1921 in Cottonwood, Al to the late John Green Chambers and Ada Mae Kingry Chambers. She grew up and lived early in her life in the Hilton community. She was a member of the First United Methodist church since 1946 and served on many church committees.
She was instrumental in the naming of the Mary Martha Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Grace Deal Circle and was active in the Young at Hearts program. She was an avid bridge player for many years and was active in the Blakely Garden Club. She was a Gray Lady at Early Memorial Hospital and helped Dr. Jack Standifer distribute the Salk Vaccine for Polio.She was also a reading mentor for many children in the school system. In her later years, she became a real estate agent along with her husband. Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, James Hollis DuBose,her daughter, Jean DuBose Fletcher and all of her siblings.

Her survivors include her son, Dr. James and Cheryl Dubose of Oxford, GA, her grandchildren: Kevin DuBose and Rebecca of Locust Grove, GA, Dr. Josh DuBose and Cindy of Cusco, Peru, Flint Withers and Ramey of Conyers, Ga, Jennifer DuBose of Phoenix, AZ, Kimberly DuBose of Oxford, GA, Allison Fletcher of Griffin, GA, Jason Fletcher and Christi of Zebulon, Ga and Suzan Ray of Rutledge, Ga. Her great grandchildren are Trinity and Katelyn DuBose, Emma, Bowden and Blakely DuBose, Mira Withers, Jackson Fletcher and wife Cameron, Jessa and Jada Fletcher and a sister-in-law, Billie Chambers.
