Henry Thedford "Ted" Mclendon

H.T. McLendon, 91, of Edison, blessed with good health his whole life, passed away in Albany, GA following a sudden illness on November 29th, 2022. Henry Thedford (Ted, Papa) McLendon was born on September 9, 1931 to the late W.E. McLendon and Mattie Bundy McLendon in Edison, GA. He served his country in the United States Army and was stationed in Salzburg, Austria following World War II. He returned home and served his community as a farmer and eventually as a business owner. He was a committed member of Edison Baptist Church. He served as a founding board member of Southwest Georgia Academy in 1970. His farming supply business, H. T. McLendon Company, offered a trusted local source for advancement in farming technology (Butler grain bins and steel buildings, and Zimmatic center pivot irrigation) for the rural southeast for over 60 years. He was a dear friend and loved by many. He was preceded in death by his three siblings Ronelle, Rudolph, and Nath, his wife of over 40 years, Lois Farris McLendon, their daughter Lois Denise McLendon, and his wife of over 18 years, Ann Lewis McLendon. He is survived by his children: Glenn McLendon (Pam) and Melanie Sheppard (Hank); his grandchildren: Michael McLendon (Micaela), Christa Bracey (Dylan), and Dylan and Katie Sheppard; and his great grandchildren: Tobias, Daxton, and Mattie Bracey. Visitation will be held on December 2, 2022 at 5 pm in the Family Life Center at Edison Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held in the sanctuary of Edison Baptist Church on Saturday, December 3rd at 10 am with Rev. Keith Gaines officiating. Burial to follow at New Park Cemetery in Fort Gaines with active pallbearers: Michael McLendon, Dylan Sheppard, Dylan Bracey, Paul Stevens, Cyrus Krohn, Joshua Krohn, Mitch McLendon, and Michael Bradshaw. Honorary pallbearers will be Stevie McLendon, Frank Miller, Barry Bell, Wilbon Greggs, Marion Lane, John McGriff, Joe Jackson, John H. Meadows, Aldine Owen, Richard West, and Reeves Lane. Memorial contributions may be made to Edison Baptist Church or the Edison Community Service Club. --
