Mr. Guy Dunaway, 89, of 6283 Wade Rd., Blakely, GA passed away early Sunday morning, Feb. 5, 2017 in the Early Memorial Nursing Home. Mr. Dunaway was born May 22, 1927 in Enterprise, AL. He was a retired Freight Agent for Norfolk Southern Railway, having managed the train depot in Blakely for many years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Blakely where he was a member of the Mens Bible Class and he served on the Administrative Board. He was a World War II Army Veteran, amember of the American Legion and the VFW, was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He served for 12 years on the City Council and as Mayor for the City of Blakely. One of the highlights of his later years was the Honor Flight for World War II Veterans to Washington, DC to visit the World War II Memorial.

Mr. Dunaway was the son of Bernard Dunaway and Merle Hundley Dunaway. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Pat McGriff, and two brothers, Mack Dunaway and Buddy Dunaway. He was a graduate of Houston County High School in Columbia, AL. He attended Telegraphy School in Atlanta, GA.

His survivors include his wife Betty of Blakely, a son, Harold Dunaway and his wife Shawn, a grandson, Greg Dunaway and his wife Monica, a granddaughter, Kacy Dunaway and a great granddaughter Blakely Dunaway, all of Birmingham, Al.

His funeral will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church of Blakely. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 until 11 AM prior to the service. Following the service, burial will be in the Blakely Cemetery with Rev. Dwight Bishop officiating.Active pallbearers will be; Johnny Fariss, Cliff Starr, Benny Chandler, Tommy Hall, Michael McNeal and Alva Gibson.Honorary pallbearers will be; Lysle McNeal, Robert Collier, Gerald Bruner, the American Legion and VFW.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Blakely or to your favorite charity.

Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home, Blakely, Ga. was in charge of arrangements.
