Billy Gray Roland, Jr., 53, of Blakely passed on Monday morning, August 16, 2021, at LifeBrite Community Hospital following a brief illness.
A graveside service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, in Blakely Cemetery with Rev. Cory Thomas officiating.The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Blakely, prior to the service.In the case of inclement weather, service changes will be posted.
Gray was born on March 16, 1968 in Statesboro, GA to the late Billy Gray, Sr. and Patricia Ann Simonton Roland.Raised in Colquitt, he was an '87 graduate of Miller County High School where he excelled at football and weightlifting.After high school, Gray played semi-pro football for the Albany Warriors and competed in numerous powerlifting competitions.Though he was self employed for the majority of his career, he enjoyed working for the Department of Natural Resources for several years where he met his wife and visited many State Parks.Gray was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Blakely.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Regina White Garrett, and numerous extended family members.
Survivors include his wife of twenty-six years, Gina Garrett Roland, and their two sons, Billy Gray, III and Garrett; three sisters, Caroline Roland Raines (Jimmy Hancock) of Edison and her three children, Julianne Raines, Ansley Raines (Scott King), and Will Raines (Carissa), Darby Roland Godfrey (Tabb) of Blakely and their son, Roland, and Elizabeth Roland of Colquitt; two uncles, J.B. Roland (Frankie) of Gainesville, GA and Jerry Roland of Colquitt; his father-in-law, Charles Garrett of Ft. Gaines; a sister-in-law, Jennifer Brown (Harriss) of Blakely and their children, Caleb, Collin, and Addison; a nephew and niece, Michael Plowden (Monica) and Natalie Plowden, and countless extended family members and friends.
