Geraldine Harris Grimes, 83, of Blakely passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 16, 2020, at her daughter's home.
The funeral service will be held at Cuba Presbyterian Church on Saturday, July 17, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Richard Hawks officiating and Patrick Wilbourn, Michael Stewart, Jay Stewart, Dustin Mock, DeWayne Wilbourn, Whit Wilbourn, Cody Evans, and Dalton Evans serving as pallbearers.Interment will follow at Bush Cemetery.Due to current gathering regulations and church capacity concerns, friends are encouraged to attend the graveside service at approximately 10:40 a.m.
Geraldine was born May 30, 1937 in Blakely to the late William Robert and Kathleen Merle Thompson Harris.A lifelong resident of Blakely, she was a graduate of Damascus High School and worked with Ted Waller as a crop insurance agent along with the chores of a caring matriarch to her family.She was a dedicated member of Cuba Presbyterian Church and enjoyed crafting, especially sewing and quilting.Geraldine loved flowers and was most proud of her large beautiful ferns.Her strong willed nature and Christian values will never be forgotten by her loving family and friends.
Survivors include her three sons, Ritchie Wilbourn, Graline Wilbourn (Cheryl) both of Blakely, and Gerald Wilbourn of Athens, GA; three daughters, Denise Stewart, Tonya Holley both of Blakely, and Tammie Evans (Max) of Albany, GA; a brother, Billy Ray Harris of Texas; eighteen grandchildren, Patrick Wilbourn (Ivye), Jason Wilbourn, Phillip Wilbourn, Bridget Edison (Sam), Michael Stewart (Talia), Jay Stewart (Jessica), Misty Enfinger (Ray), Dustin Mock (Jessie), Chris Wilbourn (Sara), Jeff Wilbourn (Tracy), Malisa Puenta, DeWayne Wilbourn, Whit Wilbourn (Sarah), Angel Davis, Cody Evans, Dalton Evans, Lilli Kate Evans, and Walker Evans; thirty-five great-grandchildren and numerous extended family members and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Garland Phillip Grimes, and her son, Ronald Wilbourn.
