Dorsey Eugene Mobley, better known as "Coach" was a caring husband, grandfather, uncle and friend to all.He left this world after battling multiple health issues on May 13, 2021 at the age of 79, surrounded by family and friends.
He was born to Jack and Laura Mobley on October 14, 1941.After graduating from Patterson High School in 1959, he married his high school sweetheart, Tommie Lee Aspinwall.Together they had two children, Dana and Lisa.
He received his Bachelor's Degree from Berry College and a Master's Degree from Georgia Southwestern. His career of 33 years included teaching and coaching at Cartersville, Georgia, and Early and Calhoun County school systems.Through coaching football, basketball, and track, Coach was able to touch the lives of so many people.
He was a Christian man and a member of Southside Baptist Church. As an outstanding example of both, he donated both his time and energy to helping others most generously.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife and best friend, Tommie, his two daughters, Dana (Craig) Saxton of Savannah, GA and Lisa (Brian) Cody of Thomson, GA, his grandchildren, Stephanie (Adam) Saxton Shank, Craig (Mary Elizabeth) Saxton Jr., Whitney Saxton, John Alec (Alexis) Cody, and Gena Cody, and his brother, James Mobley of Ohio. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, friends and "adopted family".
The celebration of his life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 15, at Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.In lieu of flowers, we ask friends instead donate to the American Cancer Society and/or the Alzheimer's Association.
