Fred Lee Taylor,Sr., 77, of 74 Angus Drive, Blakely, Ga, passed away Saturday, November 23, 2019, at the Haven Hospice in Gainesville, FL.His funeral will be held on Wednesday, November 27, 2019, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Manry Jordan Hodges Funeral Home with Rev. Jackie Williams and DeVaughn Vick officiating.Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Arlington, GA with Shane, Michael, Jamie, Jimmy and Steve Taylor, and David "Skinchy" Chambliss serving as active pallbearers.Honorary Pallbearers will be Ray Jordan, Jimmy Houston, Leroy Torbett, Jessie Murkerson, Bobby Tripp and Jeremy Vickers. The family will receive friends for visitation at Manry Jordan Hodges Funeral home on Tuesday evening, November 26, 2019 from 6 until 8 p.m.
Fred was born on August 24, 1942 in Shellman, GA to the late X. M. Taylor, Sr. and Nancy Lucille Shattles Taylor.Fred served with the Dougherty County EMS for over 30 years as an EMT and a Parametic.He was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church.Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Jean Mainor Taylor, two sisters; Alice Chambliss and Hattie Marie Taylor, a half-sister, Hattie Taylor and four brothers; Rufus, Jack and Monroe Taylor and Sammy Shattles.
His survivors include three daughters; Tracy Marshall and Shane of Albany, GA, Marie Summerlin of Blakely, GA and Kay White and Billy of Blakely, GA, a son, Fred Lee Taylor, Jr and Rhonda of Cairo, GA, two sisters; Denise Hancock and Theresa Hester both of Milledgeville, GA, five brothers; X. M. "Bea" Taylor, Jr, Frank Taylor and Ellen all of Blakely, GA, David Taylor of Bainbridge, GA, Dave Bruner of Edison, GA, and Chad Haley and Amber of Dothan, AL.He also has a brother-in-law David Chambliss and a sister-in-law Annette Taylor both of Blakely, GA.There are 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
