William Frederick "Fred" Foster, 86, of Blakely passed away on Monday morning, January 18, 2021, at his residence.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 20th, at the chapel of Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home with Dr. Alex Howell officiating and Will Foster, Rylan Foster, Tommie Cozart, Jim Morrell, Gary Clinkscales, and Mike Whitehead serving as active pallbearers.Honorary pallbearers will be Edward Balkcom, Nick Collins, Phil Clinkscales, Barry Johnson, and Wayne Knighton. Interment will follow at Pine Lawn Gardens Cemetery.The family will receive friends from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m., prior to the service.
Fred was born on April 7, 1934 in Bluffton, GA to the late Karl Washington Foster and Helen Harrison Foster.He started his career with the US Social Security Administration where he spent twenty years working and making many friends throughout southeast Alabama and beyond.From a young age, Fred was always interested in gunsmithing and in the early 70's he expanded what was a backyard business into Dixie Shooters Supply, Inc., a domestic and multinational wholesale sporting goods distributor.He also enjoyed hunting and traveling.Fred was a "people person" and always had a place in his heart for children.Other than his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his wife, Muriel Hall Foster; two sons, Dan and Bill Foster; and his brother, Ralph Foster.
Survivors include his daughter, Sue Foster of Blakely; two grandchildren, Will Foster and his two children, Rylan and Molly Foster, and Casey Foster Hollander and her three children, Wyatt Puckett and Briar Rose & Hadley Mae Hollander; and his sister, Bettie Cozart, along with numerous extended family members and friends.
