Ewell D. Jarrett passed away this morning, Saturday, July 15, 2017, at his residence.His funeral will be held on Tuesday afternoon, July 18, 2017 at 3 PM at Southside Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Smith, Dr. Alex Howell and Rev. Robert Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Lawn Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday night, July 17, 2017,from 7 until 9 PM at Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers will be Jim Carver, Buddy Jenkins, Bo King, Brian Jarrett, Neil Lumpkin and Edwin Manley. Honorary pallbearers will be Stanley Houston, Fred Forsee, Perry Jarrett, James Holloway, Ronnie Clements, Ronald Hand, Earl Jones, Owen Fussell and Jack Tedder.

Mr. Jarrett was born on November 28, 1936 to the late William Boyd Jarrett and Verena Mae Sheffield Jarrett. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Southside Baptist Church. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Billy Jarrett and Dwight Jarrett.

His survivors include his wife: Joyce Jordan Jarrett of Blakely, GA, a daughter: Denise J. Simpson and Les of Amarillo, TX;2 sons: Chris Jarrett and Tara of O'Fallon, MO and Phillip Jarrett of Blakely. He has 2 sisters: Sylvia Palmer and Charles of Decatur, GA, Winita Parr of Stockbridge, GA, 3 brothers: Clinton Jarrett and Frances of Seattle, WA, J. O. Jarrett and Christine of McDonough, GA and Rudy Jarrett and Ann of Blakely, GA. His 4 grandchildren are: Faith Simpson of Ft. Worth, TX, Meredith Simpson of Amarillo, TX, Griffin and Kayleigh Jarrett, both of O'Fallon, MO.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that contributions be made to either Kindred Hospice, 432 E. Shotwell St., Bainbridge, Ga. 39819 or to Southside Baptist Church, P. O. Box 644, Blakely, GA 39823.
