Evelyn Doris Phillips, 78, of Blakely, GA passed away Thursday evening, January 9, 2020, at LifeBrite Community Hospital. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2020, at 10 a.m. at the Chapel of Manry Jordan Hodges Funeral Home with Rev. Matthew Schluckebier officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation one hour prior to the funeral starting at 9 a.m. Burial will follow in the Bush Cemetery with Jeff Brown, Chip Houston, Todd Schell, Jarrod Fulford, Doug Hall and Ray Jordan serving as pallbearers. Evelyn was born on May 24, 1941 in Early County to the late Clarence James Simpson, Sr and Annis Baldwin Simpson. She was a retired insurance agent and a member of The Blakely Church of God. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Zamer "L.Z." Phillips, a brother, Buddy Simpson; two sisters, Linda Wiley and Diane Cochran and two grandchildren; Nikki and Tad Tyner.
Her survivors include; three daughters, Cindy Weaver and David of Blakely, GA, Gwen Tyner and Stanley of Donalsonville, GA and Jane Bass and Bob of Tallahassee, FL; a son, Les Phillips, Jr. and Sheryl of Donalsonville, GA; three sisters; Nita Enfinger and Donald Ray of Blakely, Yvonne McCready of Albany, Ga and Merle Cureton of Dothan, AL; one brother, Jimmy Simpson and Peggy of Edison, GA; five grandchildren; Dave Weaver, Blakely, GA, Tracee Taylor and John of Pelham, GA, Christopher Bass and Andrea of Tallahassee, FL, Trey Phillips and Shane Phillips both of Donalsonville, GA; seven great-grandchildren, Parker Weaver, John Ross Taylor, Madison Bass, Anna Taylor, Zachary Bass, Emersyn Taylor and Melena Phillips.
