Kenneth Edward Whitehurst, Sr., 77, of Blakely passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2020, at Early Memorial Nursing Home.
Ed was born March 28, 1943 in Ashford, Alabama to the late Richard Elison and Lillie Estelle Woodall Whitehurst.He was a graduate of Winter Haven High School and the University of Florida Forest Ranger School.Ed was an Assemblies of God pastor and rodeo chaplain for twenty years and later served as a visiting pastor at numerous churches.Throughout his career, he worked as a farrier and enjoyed riding and training horses along with hunting and fishing.Ed was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Robin Whitehurst; his son, Kenneth E. Whitehurst, Jr. and Lisa; his daughter, Vanessa Whitehurst and John Allen; his grandchildren, Ryan & Dalton Whitehurst, Megan Dodd, and Jessika Allen; a brother, Frank Whitehurst of Donalsonville, GA.; and numerous extended family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Richard, Roy, Cecil, and Robert Whitehurst; and a sister, Lucille Quattlebaum.
Due to current restrictions, a private family graveside will be held at Bethel Baptist Cemetery.
