Douglas Alan George Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 11th, 2025, at the age of 75. Born on November 19th, 1949, in Blakely, Georgia, Doug was a cherished resident of Colquitt, GA, where he spent his life surrounded by family and friends. Doug was a dedicated insurance agent, proudly serving his community through the Doug George Insurance Agency. His commitment to his clients and his profession was matched only by his passion for music. A well-known local musician, Doug brought joy to many through his performances and his involvement in the community. He is survived by his loving wife, Sylvia Grimsley of Blakely, GA; his children, Wendy George and Doug George Jr. (Karina) of Watford City, ND; and his cherished grandchildren, Tyson George Cashwell of Phenix City, AL, and Sloane Ray Hardy, Jackson George, Lilly George, Willow Vandy Walker, and Lincoln George, all of Watford City, ND. Doug also leaves behind the mother of his children, Jeanie Barfield of Watford City, ND, and his nephew, Blaine Everson. Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Grady Isaiah George and Hazel May George, his daughter Sloane George, his brother Ronnie Everson, and his niece Amy Everson. A visitation will be held at Manry Jordan Hodges Funeral Home on Thursday, April 17th, 2025, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Doug's favorite pastime was playing music with friends and family. As a tribute, an open mike will be available to share a favorite musical memory that you have of Doug. Funeral services will be conducted at Flat Creek Baptist Church on Friday, April 18th, 2025, at 10:00 am. Arrangements are provided by Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Flat Creek Baptist Church Music Program, a cause close to Doug's heart. Please send donations to PO Box 592, Colquitt, GA 39837. Doug's legacy of love, music, and dedication to his community will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him.
