Dorothy Jean Smith, 88, of 58 Hobbs Street, passed away today, August 8, 2018, at her home.Her funeral will be held on Sunday, August 12, 2018, at 3 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church, Blakely, GA with Rev. Tucker Lewis and Rev. Shawn Williams officiation.Burial will follow in the Blakely Cemetery with Military rites.Visitation will be 2-3 p.m.Pallbearers will be Chad Gleaton, Josh Gleaton, Travis Smith, Patrick Smith, Payton Smith, Jacob Konetzni and Colin Konetzni.
Mrs. Smith was born, December 4, 1929, to the late William Clarence Rush and Ester Kush Rush in Hawarden, Iowa.She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Blakely and she worked as a cashier for Westfoods in Arlington, GA.She also served in the US Army as a Dental Technician. Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her Son-In-Law, Griffin Gleaton and Great-Granddaughter, Emma Konetzni, three brothers; Bill, Bob, and Paul Rush; one sister, Patricia Wall.
Her survivors include her husband; Robert K. (Buddy) Smith of Blakely, GA,
one daughter, Bobbie Jean Gleaton of Blakely, one son, Stan and Terrie Smith of Blakely, one sister; Charlene Anderson of Storm Lake, Iowa.She is also survived by six grandchildren; Mandy Gleaton Konetzni, Chad Gleaton and Pelu, Josh Gleaton, Travis Smith and Samantha, Patrick Smith and Payton Smith; five great-grandchildren; Jacob konetzni, Colin Konetzni, Annelise Gleaton, Cason Smith and Jaxson Smith. Also there are many nieces and nephews.
