Dorothy G. Currie

Mrs. Dorothy Currie, 94, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, April 21, 2023. Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at the Arlington United Methodist Church with Rev. Debbie Cone officiating. The family will receive friends at the church at 1:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery with nephews as pallbearers. Dorothy was born November 17, 1928 to the late Otis and Marzene Garrett. She was well known to Arlington citizens and a loving wife of 62 years to her late husband William (Billy) Currie. Other than her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Wilton Otis Garrett, and one sister, Martha Ann Long. In her early years she trained U S Air Force Aviation Cadets at Bainbridge U S Air Force Base, Georgia. She worked numerous years at the Arlington Post Office and retired as Postmaster. Survivors are the children of the late Wilton Otis Garrett; Jennifer Odom (Glen, Michael Garrett, Denise Wade (MickeyI), Phillip Garrett (Karen),and Stephen Garrett (Wendy) and the children of the late Martha Ann Long; Lynda (Robert) Martel , Cyndy Thomas, Natalie (Glenn) Shellhouse, Walter (Debbie)I Nielsen and brother-in-law, Jerry Long.
