Dewey Winfield Cannon, 67, of 10860 Cedar Springs Road, Blakely, GA, passed away Wednesday evening, November 13, 2019 in the ER at the Southeast Health Medical Center, Dothan, AL.His funeral will be held Monday morning, November 18, 2019, at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Blakely with Dr. Alex Howell officiating.The family will receive friends for visitation starting at 10 a.m. until 10:50 a.m. in the Church Social Hall.Burial will follow in the Blakely Cemetery with Alan Roland, Jason Lockhart, Eric Jarrett, Jr., Graham Harvin, Wes Vann, Jeff Adkinson, Tony Tabb, Bill Ducati and Don Chandler serving as pallbearers.

Dewey was born on June 6, 1952 in Richland, GA to the late Joe A. Cannon and Lois Strickland Cannon of Blakely, GA.He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.He received a B. S. Degree in Marketing at Georgia Southwestern College. He was owner/operator Cannon Hill Straw of Blakely, GA. He was a member of the 1970 Early County Bobcats Basketball Team that won the Class A State Championship. He was also a NAIA All American Second Baseman for the 1975 Georgia Southwestern Baseball Team.After college he played two years for a semi-pro affiliate of the Boston Red Sox as a second baseman.He was a very faithful member and an avid golfer at the Crooked Oak Golf Club of Colquitt, GA.He was a Sigma Chi Fraternity member in the ETA THETA Chapter at Georgia Southwestern College.

His survivors include his mother, Lois Strickland Cannon of Blakely, GA, a son, Ross Winfield Cannon and Jennifer of Atlanta, GA and two brothers; James Cannon and Tammy and Billy Cannon and Lori all of Blakely, GA.
