Delores "Dee" Johnson, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 11th, 2025, at the age of 94. Born on Tuesday, July 29th, 1930, in Selma, California, Dee lived a life full of love, creativity, and dedication to her family and community. Dee was a talented interior decorator who brought beauty into the homes of many. As a self-employed decorator, she had a keen eye for design and a passion for transforming spaces into warm and inviting environments. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Hobert Johnson, her father, Darwin C. Powell, her mother, Alice Lena Powell, and her siblings, Arlena, Gerry "JJ", Laverne, and Donald. Dee is survived by her loving children: Dennis Johnson (Joan) of Collinsville, AL; Sharon Fortson (Bruce) of Colquitt, GA; Teresa Bush (Wynn) of Blakely, GA; and Glen Johnson of Blakely, GA. She was a proud grandmother to 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to her life. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews who cherished her dearly. Dee made her home in Blakely, Georgia, where she was an active and cherished member of the community. Her warmth, kindness, and generosity touched the lives of many, and her legacy will continue to inspire those who knew her. A Celebration of Life will be held at Zion Free Will Baptist Church on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Dr. Alex Howell. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service. Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
