David Waller Jones, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 10th, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on December 11th, 1933, in Blakely, Georgia, David spent the majority of his life in the community he cherished. David was known by many as always having a “smiling face” or “cutting up” to make others smile. David was a dedicated farmer, locals always knew “David Jones is planting” meant they were behind, or “David Jones harvested first” was a regular occurrence. A skilled airplane mechanic, he served with distinction in the Civil Service. His commitment to his country was evident through his service in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, where he proudly contributed to the defense of freedom. A man of deep faith, David was a devoted member of Southside Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. His involvement in the church community was a testament to his unwavering belief in service and fellowship. He was also a cherished member of the Builders Sunday School Class, who will honor his memory as honorary pallbearers. David is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Ginger Chandler Jones, who stood by his side through life's many seasons. Together, they raised two daughters, Marcia Mulkey (Porter) and Vicky Chapman (Ricky), both of Blakely, GA. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Jason Mulkey (Shannon), Nicole Klesko (Matthew), Holden Chapman (Michaela), all of Blakely, GA, and Caroline Norman (Miles) of Bainbridge, GA, as well as his great-grandchildren, Kaylee Klesko, Kohen Klesko, Felton Chapman, and Allie Miles Norman. David also leaves behind several nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie Lee Jones, Sr. and Ina Waller Jones, and his brothers, Johnnie Lee "Buddy" Jones, Jr, and Julius Charles Jones. A visitation will be held at the Southside Baptist Church Social Hall on Tuesday, January 14th, 2025, at 10:00 am, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am, officiated by Rev. Sterling Jones.
