Darice Alday Busby

Darice Busby, 79, of Blakely, died early Tuesday morning at Early County LifeBrite Nursing Home, Blakely, GA. She was born in Alliance, Florida and moved to Blakely, GA in 1960 where she met the love of her life, Donald "Pete" Busby. She and Pete were married for over 50 years and have three sons. She and Pete would plant a garden each year. Darice loved her garden and canning vegetables. She would always grow enough to feed her family and all the neighbors. Prior to her retirement, Darice, worked at Georgia Pacific Cedar Springs Plant for over 25 years. She worked at Bruce Schneider for many years prior to Georgia Pacific. She loved her Paper Mill family where everyone knew her as "Ma". She did not meet a stranger. She always saw the good in everyone she met. We will see her again because she had faith in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a member of Sowhatchee Baptist Church. Her greatest accomplishments in life was her family that she loved dearly. She is survived by her three sons, seven grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Sons, Tracy (Sandy) Blakely, GA, Gary (Kathy) Blakely, GA and Allen (Rhonda) Portal, GA. Her Loving Brother, Curtis (Brenda) Alday of Altha, Florida. Her only Granddaughter, Meghan Busby (Travis) Greene, Moultrie, GA which she always called her "Fred". Special Nieces, Lois (Tommy) Huff, Headland, AL, Lisa Brantley & Jessica Ham, Martinez, GA. Nephews Jessie Alday, Altha, FL and Scott (Beth) Anglin, Blakely, GA. Preceded in death by her husband Donald "Pete" Busby and parents Woodrow and Inell Alday of Grand Ridge, Florida. Funeral services will be held at the chapel of Manry Jordan Hodges Funeral Home on Saturday, August 20, 2022. with Sterling Jones officiating. The family will receive visitors at 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour. Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Brian Busby, Heath Busby, Chad Busby, Aaron Busby, Cole Busby and Matt Busby and close family friend, Rex Henderson. Interment followed at Sowhatchee Cemetery.
