Coach Tommy Whitehurst

September 26, 1943 — January 28, 2021

Thomas Harron "Coach" Whitehurst, 77, of Blakely, GA passed away on Thursday morning, January 28, 2021, at Flowers Hospital.

Tommy was born on September 26, 1943 in Kinston, Alabama to the late Bill and Vera Davis Whitehurst.After graduating from Troy State University, where he played on the Trojan basketball team, Tommy began his tenure at Early County High School.He retired after thirty successful years of teaching students on the basketball court and in the classroom.

Survivors include his wife, Janice Bowdoin Whitehurst; a daughter, Hayden Pickle (Brian) and their children, Austin & Abby; a son, Tom Whitehurst (Beth) and their three sons, Ty, Will, and Rhett; one sister, Jan Hall (Danny) of Opp, AL along with numerous extended family members and friends.

Due to risks associated with the current pandemic, a private family service will be held.
