Christine S King

Christine S King, 89, of Fort Gaines passed away at her home on Sunday, March 17, 2024 with her boys by her side. Born on December, 28, 1934 in Blakely, GA to the late E.C. and Robbie Wiliams Spence. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Fort Gaines Fellowship Church with Rev. Randal Spicer and Rev. Jeff Hines officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot at Fort Gaines New Park Cemetery. The Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening 6-8 PM. Pallbearers being asked to serve are Richard Coates, Neal Smith, Clay Hunt, Larry Worsley, Chad Brooks, and Brian Evans. Christine was a member of Fort Gaines Fellowship Church since 1955, where she has taught Sunday school for 50+ years, she has also held many other positions in the church. Mrs. King was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward King III, whom she married on November 12, 1955. She is also the last of the 10 children, preceded in death by 6 brothers: Earnest, Tom, Luke, James, Joe and Bob, as well as 3 sisters: Callie, Betty and Ann. Mrs. King enjoyed being a homemaker for the family as well as taking charge on the farm when she needed. Survivors include two sons, Jim King of Cuthbert, GA, Joe King of Fort Gaines, GA. Grandchildren, Krissey Smith (Neal) of Cuthbert, GA, and AJ King (fiancé Ande Ross) of Cuthbert, GA. Great-Grandchild Daniel Smith. Sisters-In-Law, Betty K. Mills of Fort Gaines, GA, Joan Dunahoo of Centerville, AL, Brother-In-Law, Bo King (Eilene) of Fort Gaines, GA. In Lieu of Flowers the family asked donations be made in Christine’s Honor to the Fort Gaines Fellowship Church 120 Commerce St, Fort Gaines, GA 39851. Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
