Charles Elliott English, 80, of Blakely passed away peacefully on Friday morning, March 12, 2021, at his residence.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 15, in Bush Cemetery with Rev. Ricky Carroll officiating.The visitation will be held on Sunday from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home.The family would like to recognize Jack Sanders, Jesse Murkerson, Vic Pratt, Steve Coleman, Billy Hayes, Richard Peterson, Mark Winslett, Wayne Goocher, Chad Brackin, and the men of First Free Will Baptist Church as honorary pallbearers.in lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to First Free Will Baptist Church of Blakely, 329 S. Charles was born on August 1, 1940 in Blakely to the late Willie Joe and Janet Elliott English.He was a '58 graduate of Blakely Union High School and worked in the hardware business for sixty years.Originally Western Auto before becoming True Value and later Sentry Hardware,Charles became the owner and operator in 1988 and just retired this previous year.He was also an avid outdoorsman and always knew where the fish were biting.Charles was a faithful member of First Freewill Baptist Church of Blakely where he taught Sunday school for over fifty years.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Maggie English.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-three years, Merlene Murkerson English: two sons, Charlie English and wife Michelle of Lucile and Henry English and wife Kristy of Columbus, GA; his daughter, Susan English of Blakely; two grandchildren, Shelley Goocher and husband Mason and Elliott English; and his sister, Janis Kelly and husband Edd of Blakely along with numerous extended family members and friends.
