Charles Edward "Red" Chandler, 87, of Cedar Springs, GA. passed away on Monday evening, June 15, 2020, at his residence.
Red was born December 10, 1932 in Cedar Springs to the late Charles Olvin and Ollie Rosa Windham Chandler.After serving our country in the United States Army during the Korean War, Red settled in Fort Lauderdale, FL. for numerous years before returning in 1970.He was a heavy equipment operator for the majority of his career as a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 474.Red was a loving husband, father, grand & great-grandfather and a dedicated member of Liberty Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include his wife of over 55 years, Martha Smith "Marty" Chandler; a son, Ricky Chandler of Cottonwood, AL.; daughters, Terry Forman (Jan) of Pensacola, FL. and Tammy Miller (Michael) of Dothan, AL. ; nine grandchildren, Kristi Ullrich (Shawn), Kasie Marek (Brandon), Ricky Chandler, Jr. (Kristi), Brandon Chandler (April), Eric Chandler (Kayla), Chris Granger (Amanda), Mandy Granger, Tabitha Boyett (Vance), and Sara Griffin (Tommy); his great-grandchildren, Matthew, Elizabeth, Jaxon, Parker, Wyatt, Rylee, Collin, Bryson, Caden, Coleton, Lilly, Conner, Blake, Noah, Alyssa, Alec, Ashton, and Zachary; and numerous extended family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, Red was preceded in death by his siblings, Nita Mae Baker, James O. Chandler, Thomas Earl Chandler, Vivian Marie Schumm, and Ivey Lois Chandler.
A graveside service, respecting social distancing protocols, will be held at Liberty Cemetery in Cedar Springs on Wednesday, June 17, 2020, at 4:00 p.m.
