Byron Bell, 76, formerly of Bluffton, Ga. passed away July 17, 2024 in Blackshear, Ga. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Manry Jordan Hodges Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Spicer officiating. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service in the chapel. Interment will follow at Bluffton Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Tyler Perkins, Dalton Perkins, Joe Brown, and Jeff Winslette. Byron was born December 6, 1947 to the late Byron Jackson Bell, Sr., and Melba Strickland Bell. He was a graduate of Clay County High School and Auburn University. He served as a Marine and a member of the National Guard Reserves. Byron was retired from Farley Nuclear Plant and was a member of Bluffton Methodist Church. Byron was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Melba Bell. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Virginia Kay Bell, daughter, Lynn B. Perkins (Daren) of Buford, Ga., son, Michael Bell (Michelle) of Blackshear, Ga., grandchildren, Tyler Perkins, Dalton Perkins, and Abbi Perkins of Buford, Ga., and Morgan Bell of Blackshear, Ga. Also surviving is a sister Brenda Brown (Joe) of Albany, Ga. Manry Jordan Hodges Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
