Buddy Alderman

William Shepard “Buddy” Alderman III, 77, of Blakely passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. Funeral Services will be held Friday, July 5, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Colomokee Baptist Church with Rev. Josh White officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the church prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Blakely Cemetery. Pallbearers being asked to serve are Will Alderman, Connor Alderman, Collyer Alderman, Cooper Alderman, Zack Alderman, and Cade Alderman. Honorary pallbearers will be Buddy’s Sunday School Class, Jerry Sasnett, and Jimmy Helton. Buddy was a lifelong resident of Blakely, born January 4, 1947 to the late William S. Alderman Jr. and JoAnne Grimsley Alderman. He was married to his wife of 55 years, Rena Drawdy Alderman. Buddy served in the United States Air Force and was retired from Georgia Pacific Paper Mill after working 42 years as a maintenance supervisor. He was an active member of Colomokee Baptist Church. Buddy was predeceased by his parents, William and JoAnne Alderman. Survivors include his wife, Rena Alderman, sons, William Cary Alderman (Stacy) of Blakely, Troy Drawdy Alderman (Carly) of Leesburg, and James Brenton Alderman (Kendall) of Blakely, grandchildren, Carlye Alderman Giannars (Wil), Morgan Alderman Smith (Doug), Will Alderman (Emily), Connor Alderman, Collyer Alderman, Cooper Alderman, Zack Alderman, and Cade Alderman, and great-grandchildren, Emerie Kate Giannars, Landon Giannars, and Brody Smith. He is also survived by a brother, James Clayton Alderman (Lynn) and several nieces. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Buddy’s memory to Colomokee Baptist Church. Manry Jordan Hodges Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
