Bobby Jackson, 75, of Leary, Ga. passed away shortly before midnight on Sunday, June 21, 2020, at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 25, 2020, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home, face coverings are required and building capacity guidelines will be followed. Interment will be at Salem Cemetery in Edison, following a private family funeral service. Flowers will be accepted. Born March 5, 1945 in Albany, Ga., Bobby was the last-born of the late James Earl and Cora Nix Jackson. After graduating from Calhoun Co. High School in 1965, Bobby served our country in the United States Army and returned home in 68' to resume farming and join his waiting wife and son. From driving the tractor while singing southern gospel songs in the fields to cutting grass for those in need to sharing his beliefs, he always took pride in helping others and enjoyed gardening and hunting/fishing. Along with The Gideons International, Bobby was a longtime member and deacon at Leary Baptist Church where he enjoyed "making a joyful noise" in the choir and serving his Lord. He looked forward to eating and socializing with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of over fifty-four years, Mary Adams Jackson; his son, Robert Jackson, wife Kim and their son Jacob of Edison, Ga.; his daughter, Monika Beckum and her daughter Abby of Leary; brothers-in-law, Brian Slappy of Panama City Beach and Hollis Adams of Arlington, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his siblings, Sarah Fulmore, Eunice Isler, Betty Hudgins, Lois Paul, Celestine Adams, James Earl Jackson, Jr., and J.T. Jackson, Sr.
