A graveside service will be held in Oak Grove Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 29th, with Rev. David Crowdis officiating.
Billy was born on December 9, 1933 in Arlington to the late William Crandel and Minnie Mae Simpson Hewett.From welding and farming to driving trucks and operating heavy equipment, Billy worked hard throughout his life and eventually retired from the Windmill Plantation.He was a member of the Arlington Baptist Church.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jonetta Duke Hewett, and three siblings, Frank, Elbert, and Ruby Hewett.
Survivors include his son and two daughters, Ronald Hewett (Alice) of Butler, GA, Debra H. Ellis (Kempel) of Arlington, and Donna H. Harrell (Wayne) of Arlington; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; five sibling, Mildred Mitchel of Columbus, GA, Annette Harper of Abbeville, AL, Bennie Hewett of Gainesville, GA, Clifford Hewett of Monticello, FL, and Minnie Pearl Burnett of North Carolina along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
