Betty Shearouse Lowe

Betty Jean Shearouse Lowe, 87, of Damascus, GA passed away peacefully on Friday morning, January 15, 2021, at Phoebe Putney Hospital.

Betty was born on June 6, 1933 in Barwick, Georgia to the late Herbert Samuel and Eula Mary Bennett Shearouse.She was a retired educator who touched multiple lives at several independent schools in Georgia.An active member of Blakely First United Methodist Church, Betty sang in choir and taught adult Sunday school classes.She was also an avid tennis player.In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by a sister, Rose Thomason.

She is survived by her husband of sixty-nine years, Graham Lowe; her daughter, Mary Lowe Perron (Seth) of Albany, GA and their children, Erin Scarborough (James), Jessica Roberson ( Shane), and Taylor Perron; two sons, Mike Lowe (Kay) of Atlanta & Damascus and their children, Michael Lowe (Erinn), Matt Lowe (Callie), and Harrison Lowe (Meg), and Allen Lowe (Piper) of Albany and their children, Tanner, Tyler, and Landon Lowe; twelve great-grandchildren; her sister, Mary Cook of Athens, Ga; and her brother-in-law, Robert Thomason of FL, along with numerous extended family members and friends.

Due to the risks associated with the current pandemic, a private family graveside service will be held with the intentions of hosting a celebration of life service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to Blakely First United Methodist Church, 397 College St., Blakely, GA39823 or Deerfield-Windsor School, PO Box 71149, Albany, GA31708-1149.
