Ben Donald Cooper

Ben Donald Cooper, 85, of Blakely passed away Friday, September 27, 2024 at Southeast Health in Dothan, Al. Funeral services will by held Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at the Blakely First Assembly of God Church at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be held at the church prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the Blakely Cemetery. Rev. Jerry Murkerson will be officiating. Pallbearers asked to serve are Roger Edmondson, Bobby Suggs, Harold Hardy, J.C. Freeman, D.J. Stampley, and Michael Fortner. Ben was born July 1, 1939 in Blakely, Ga. to the late John Ivey and Juanita Houston Cooper. He married Sandra Goree in 1961, his soulmate for 63 years. Ben was retired from Georgia Pacific as a Maintenance Technician. He was an active member of Blakely First Assembly of God Church, where he served as a Deacon, Secretary/Treasurer, and a member of the Advisory Board. His favorite pastime was a good round of golf and he was an avid flower gardener. In addition to his wife, Sandra, Ben is survived by children, Leslie Leanne Sakow of Arlington, GA, and Donald Clay Cooper (Cathy) of Cumming, GA, grandchildren Christian Lee Reichard (Kayla) of Arlington, GA, Anna Maria Reichard (Joseph) of Athens, GA, Kyle Cooper and Ryan Cooper both of Cumming, GA, and sisters, Judy Cooper and Patricia Taliaferro, both of Blakely, GA. He is also survived by special friends Jessica and Aaron Reichard and a special sister-in-law, Erlene White. Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
