Benjamin Harley Adkison, 59, of Blakely went to meet his Savior on Tuesday morning, July 21, 2020, following a courageous battle with cancer.
The family will celebrate his home going on Sunday, July 26, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. CST. The service will be at Heritage Baptist Church in Dothan and will also be live streamed via the Church's website, hbcdothan.org, to encourage social distancing.Ben was a man of God who's life passion was to help others and see them come to know his Lord and Savior.Being in the ministry himself for over thirty years, he was passionate about the ministry of the local church. In lieu of flowers, the family of Ben Adkison asks you to make a donation to your local church in memory of him.
Ben was born August 25, 1960 in Blakely to Charles Edward Adkison and the late Sandra Theresa Dixon Adkison. He studied music at Shorter College, Georgia Southwestern State University and Luther Rice College & Seminary. Ben was a faithful member and worship minister at Heritage Baptist Church.An outdoorsman, Ben enjoyed admiring God's creations along with fishing & hunting.Overall, he was "too blessed to be stressed", a phrase that is familiar to all who knew him.
Survivors include his children, Zach Adkison (Brittany) and their children, Caleb & Briley of Warner Robins, Ga. and Brittni Johnson (Chuck) and their children, Chaz, Jedidiah, Jaden & ZoeLynn of Clarkesville, Ga.; his father, Charles Adkison of Blakely; two sisters, Sybil Lovering (Ronnie) of Blakely and Laura Adkison of Fl.; and numerous extended family members and friends.
