Arthur H. Powell

Arthur was born May 13, 1938 in Clay County, Ga to the late Arthur Holmes Powell, and Irene Duke Powell.He graduated from Fort GainesHigh School in 1956.
He spent his early working years on an Ore Boat on the Great Lakes before moving to Blakely, and joining Dixie Finance Co. in 1963 as Manager, and later becoming a partner/owner in Early Finance, Blakely Finance and later, Clay Finance in Fort Gaines, Ga before retiring in 2000.
He married the love of his life, the late Carol Hardwick Powell from Abbeville, Al in 1960 and they were married for 61 years until she passed on November 24, 2021.He has one son, Arthur H. Powell, Jr., and wife Sandy; two grandsons, Parker and Eli Powell of Blakely, one sister, Avis New of Chattanooga, TN.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing with his many cherished friends, Jeff Brown, Norman Chadwell, Eddie Martin and Jimmy Weaver just to mention a few.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Irene Powell and one sister, Ann Ball.
