John Andrew "Andy" Cowan, 57, of Blakely, GA passed away on Sunday morning, April 18, 2021, at Southeast Health in Dothan, AL.
Andy was born on October 24, 1963 in Dothan to Mary Lou Williams Cowan and the late Franklin Daniel Cowan.He was a '81 graduate of Southwest Georgia Academy.While attending Auburn University, Andy was involved in an automobile accident that left him permanently disabled.Overcoming his disabilities, he completed his undergraduate studies at Troy State University and later received a degree of Juris Doctorate from Atlanta's John Marshall Law School.Andy practiced law in the Pataula Judicial Circuit for eleven years and was a member of Blakely First United Methodist Church.In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, David Lonnie Cowan.
Survivors include his mother, Mary Lou Williams Cowan of Blakely; an aunt, Betty Pascher of Shalimar, FL; an uncle, Curtis Williams of Red Level, AL;
and three cousins along with their families, Betty Posey (Wayne) of Blountstown, FL, Hazel Owens (Bill) of Montgomery, AL, and Kathy Ammons (Eugene) of Andalusia, AL.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 20, at the family residence, 139 Lakewood Drive, Blakely.
